Flamingos sign hometown talent to 2023 roster
MADISON, WI: Forward Madison announced the signing of forward Demitrius Kigeya to a 25-day contract, pending league and federation approval. The attacker from Madison, WI signs with the club after starting the season as a trialist.
After a successful high school career at Shattuck – St. Mary’s, Kigeya decided to attend Gonzaga University, where he excelled on and off the pitch. Kigeya earned WCC All-Freshman Team after his first season and All-WCC Second Team honors after his sophomore season where he tallied 1,209 minutes played and a team-high 12 shots on goal. Kigeya continued right where he left off for his junior and senior seasons, earning All-WCC Second Team and First Team honors respectively. The psychology major came back to Madison after his senior season in 2022, and now joins a FMFC team that has been surging in USL League One as of late.
“We are excited to have Demitrius join the group,” FMFC Head Coach Matt Glaeser said. “It’s a good opportunity for him to prove himself in the short term. It’s always nice to be able to utilize local talent with ties to the club and community.”
